Local businesses band together to promote each other as fifth Local Gift Card Mall location is added.

BOULDER, CO – “Buy Local” enthusiasts have a new destination for unique Boulder gifts: the Local Gift Card Mall at the Mediterranean Market, located on 28th Street in Boulder. The new display features gift cards from favorite Boulder businesses—offering a welcomed twist on gift card malls which traditionally sell gift cards to corporate chain stores instead of independent businesses.

“Shoppers want to buy local whenever possible, and the Local Gift Card Mall makes it extra convenient to do that—no special trip necessary,” said Maria Dent, Vice President of LocalGiftCards.com. “These malls are all about the independents—buying a local gift card instead of one from a national chain is one of the easiest ways shoppers can support the small businesses they love.”

The malls also offer a way for Boulder's rich community of independent businesses to support each other. By hosting a mall, Boulder business owners help promote other businesses and open up new local sales channels. The community benefits, too: one percent of all gift card sales are donated to local nonprofit organizations selected by each retailer hosting the Local Gift Card Mall.

The mall is the fifth to be added in Boulder, and is operated by LocalGiftCards.com, a Boulder-based company that helps small businesses use gift cards to become more profitable. Local Gift Card Malls can be found at four other locations in Boulder: Meininger Art Supply on the Hill, ShortStop Convenience stores (at their William's Village and Gunbarrel locations), and Hazel's Beverage World. Shoppers will find gift cards from well-known local Boulder businesses including the Pedestrian Shop, Robb's Boulder Music, West End Salon, and Deli Zone.
